Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has recruited Adam Hoffman, 24, from Ken Griffin’s Citadel hedge fund to help optimize costs in the U.S. national security sector. Hoffman, a Princeton graduate, briefly worked at the White House Council of Economic Advisers in 2020 and later served in Citadel’s “Office of the CEO.”

Musk and Griffin Collaborate to Address Government Inefficiencies

Ken Griffin publicly praised Musk’s efforts at DOGE, expressing gratitude for Musk’s attempts to reduce inefficiencies within Washington. At a recent Miami conference, Griffin expressed his appreciation for Musk’s ongoing work to streamline government operations.

In addition to Hoffman, DOGE has enlisted other key figures from prestigious financial institutions, including Antonio Gracias from Valor Equity Partners and Scott Coulter, former executive at Lone Pine Capital. These hires are part of a broader effort to strengthen the department’s operations.

Musk’s Plans to Expand DOGE’s Workforce

DOGE, currently with around 100 staff members, plans to double its workforce, focusing on software experts, information security professionals, and finance specialists. Musk emphasized the department’s commitment to building a more efficient government structure.

Hoffman’s Advocacy for Free Speech

Before joining DOGE, Hoffman was vocal in advocating for free speech, particularly on university campuses. In a 2023 New York Times op-ed, he argued that conservative students were being pushed further to the right by “progressive campuses.” He reaffirmed this stance in a 2023 Fox News interview, urging young conservatives to fight for free speech and stand firm in their views.
